Castletown (Balley Chashtal) occurs as town to the south of the Isle of Man. These are a previous capital of the island. Notable buildings in the town include Castle Rushen, King William's College, The Buchan School and the Old House of Keys. Tynwald used to meet in Castletown except in Tynwald Day, when it traditionally met (& however meets) in Tynwald Hill in St. John's. Castletown's people is 3,100 (based on data from a 2001 census).
More attractions include a old school & a Peggy boat museum. A Peggy is an old boat which was bricked higher in a Quayle house & 'wasted' for about Centred years prior to existence rediscovered by workmen. Dan Quayle, former Vice President of the United States is distantly related to this branch of the Quayle personal.
King William's College and Ronaldsway Airport border the north-east of the town. Castletown has the station on the Isle of Man Steam Railway line (Douglas to Port Erin). To the northerly is Ballasalla, a northward-west the village of Ballabeg and to the west Port St. Mary and Port Erin. Castletown sits on a northward-american side of Castletown Bay, at the south american-tip of which is the Scarlet Point visitant centre. A paired shore of the bay is processed higher of the west coast of the Langness Peninsula.
